5 News has announced that its popular health and well-being segment, Mind Matters with Dr Sian, will be available as a podcast from Wednesday 27th July.
Mind Matters with Dr Sian will continue to run as a segment airing fortnightly within 5 News but will now be available in a longer format as a podcast.
The mental health segment was part of the successful, hour-long, re-launch of flagship 5 News last November and sees Dr Sian Williams combine her skills as a broadcaster and NHS Psychologist, to focus on inspirational stories involving mental health issues.
The launch of the ‘Mind Matters with Dr Sian’ 20-minute podcast episode features Jay Blades MBE who shares memories with Sian about a time in his life when he was at his most vulnerable.
Mind Matters is the only regular mental health slot in TV news and so far has explored living with ADHD, anxiety, depression, Parkinson’s and autism with Rory Bremner, Max George, Paul Sinha and Christine McGuiness among others.
In addition to the episode with Jay Blades, interviews will also be available with Gary Numan and Denise Welch.
Sian Williams said: “I’m thrilled to be launching Mind Matters into the podcast sphere. I am continually fascinated by stories of surviving trauma and hope that a new audience will garner the same inspiration I do from the remarkable people we speak to.”
Editor of 5 News, Cait FitzSimons, commented: “I’m so pleased to launch Mind Matters with Dr Sian as a podcast. We know mental health is hugely important to our viewers and now it will be able to reach a wider audience. Sian’s empathy and expertise make her uniquely able to delve into areas that people find difficult to speak about, helping others who are finding life challenging.”
The full Mind Matters with Dr Sian interview with Jay Blades will be available to listen to on all major platforms from 6pm on Wednesday 27th July and to watch on 5 News, Channel 5 from 5pm on the same day.Back to All Press Releases
