Keir Simmons has been promoted from Crime Correspondent to be named UK Editor for ITV News.
This appointment follows previous UK Editor Angus Walker taking his first foreign role as China Correspondent. Keir will now lead on home affairs stories, working in the UK bureau for ITV News run by Ed Campbell. Keir has consistently broken exclusive news lines on a number of high profile crime stories for ITV News including the Raoul Moat shootings and the Vanessa George case. Keir joined ITN in 2004 and has held numerous roles including London Life Correspondent at London Tonight and general reporter at ITV News. He began his career in radio and then as a news desk assistant at ITV News going on to work on the planning desk before becoming a freelance reporter. Rohit Kachroo will be taking Keir’s place as Crime Correspondent. Shortlisted for RTS Young Journalist of the Year in 2010, Rohit previously covered stories in the Midlands for ITV News including the Khyra Ishaq and Fiona Pilkington cases. He also investigated Birmingham Social Services for a special Tonight programme, and has covered foreign stories including the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and an investigation into child labour in Rajasthan. Rohit joined ITN in 2007 from ITV Central and is on Twitter @RohitKachrooITV.
ITV News is also appointing Emily Morgan as a general reporter on a six-month attachment. Emily has most recently been a producer in ITV News’ Westminster operations and has conducted political reporting in recent months.
