ITN swept the board at the Royal Television Society journalism awards last night, winning eight awards, including the coveted News Programme of the Year for Channel 4 News.
Channel 4 News was the night’s biggest winner, picking up six of the top awards on the night, including Best News Programme, as well as National Presenter of the Year for Jon Snow. Chief correspondent Alex Thomson was named Television Journalist of the Year, while Ciaran Jenkins was awarded the gong for Young Journalist of the Year.
ITV News also won recognition, taking home the Home News Coverage award for its dogged exposure of the Jimmy Savile scandal, while ITV News London was named Nations and Regions News Programme of the Year.
