ITN Productions To Produce Motor Morphers For Channel 5

Channel 5 has commissioned ITN Productions to produce Motor Morphers, a new four-part series where two teams of engineers transform perfectly formed utility vehicles into something capable of doing a completely different job. Motor Morphers will see The Gadget Show’s Jason Bradbury set the two teams a task of how their ‘morphed’ vehicles will be put to the test in a head-to-head challenge. Both teams comprise engineers from all backgrounds – aerospace, mechanical and navel engineering – who could be turning a fire engine into a tree felling machine one week or a concrete mixer into a cargo boat in the next episode. Each episode follows the trials and tribulations of the two teams as they compete against the clock to design a new invention, break down the old vehicle, test their ideas and create the new machine. Along the way, viewers will see the inside workings of machines, all manner of blue sky thinking and feats of engineering, as well as team-work and tensions. Following four days’ hard graft, Bradbury then gathers the teams and their contraptions for the big challenge to see if the creations can complete the set task before deciding which team will be named that week’s winners. Andrew O’Connell, Head of Factual, News and Current Affairs at Channel 5 comments: “We wanted to make a show that was fun, engaging and had feats of engineering at its heart and Motor Morphers is exactly that. The teams are highly skilled and dedicated and Jason is just the man to put them through their paces” Emma Read, Head of Factual and Features at ITN Productions comments: “This is a show for anyone who’s ever wondered – how does that work? We’re bringing guerrilla engineering to a new audience in a brand new format to get inside great, hulking vehicles and completely transform them into something else using whatever means and materials are to hand. Viewers will love the feats of engineering, the creative thinking, and the rivalry of two charismatic teams.” Motor Morphers is currently set to air on Channel 5 in 2013. -ENDS- For further information please contact: Mark Pitchford, Channel 5 Press Office, 020 7098 2825 or email Dan Faulks, Head of Press at ITN, 020 7430 4825 or email Notes to editors: For all the latest about Channel 5, follow us @channel5press About Channel 5 The channel launched as Britain’s fifth and final terrestrial broadcaster in March 1997.
