ITN Productions has been commissioned to produce six new podcasts for Audible, Amazon’s audio entertainment service, covering subjects ranging from tales of survival and success, to literary history and the future of technology.
Announced today, this new commission follows the success of earlier Audible Originals from the award-winning production company, including The Dark Web and Real Crime. All six series will be available free to Audible members on Audio Shows.
The first release, Escape From Jonestown (The Times: “A tragic story … drawing on recordings made in the final, chaotic hours.”), debuted on the platform in early November, and features a chilling personal account of the Jonestown massacre over six episodes, marking the 40th anniversary of the tragedy.
Other projects in production include Bear Grylls’ Survival Stories, a ten-episode series featuring first-hand accounts of astonishing survival presented by Bear Grylls; and Artificial Intelligence: Friend or Foe? in which technology correspondent Geoff White explores AI and its effects on society.
The three other series are currently in production and will be announced in due course.
Dan Grabiner, Head of Development, ITN Productions said: “It’s a privilege to be collaborating with Audible to bring such a diverse range of subjects and voices to life. Premium audio content is booming, and working with Audible is a perfect fit for what we do: quality content and authentic storytelling.”
The series were commissioned by Kent DePinto and Steve Carsey, and Dan Grabiner is the Executive Producer for ITN. Eva Wolchover is the Executive Producer for Audible.
