It has been announced Harlequins skipper Chris Robshaw will captain England for the first two Six Nations games.
"It's a huge honour and a very proud day," the player said.
Robshaw added: "It's not about myself because there are six or seven guys around me who all have a massive role to play - there's lots of other leaders in the group."
The 25-year-old succeeds Lewis Moody, who quit international rugby after England's World Cup performance.
