A new senior editorial team has been appointed to The Wright Stuff following the announcement that ITN Productions will produce the weekday current affairs programme from January 2018.
The team to lead the reinvigorated show will be headed by Editor Ian Jones, currently lead programme editor on 5 News.
Former This Morning producer Emma Barrow will join as Deputy Editor, while former ITV News lead programme director Dan Wright joins as Director.
The Wright Stuff was commissioned by Channel 5’s Director of Programmes, Ben Frow and Commissioning Executive Lara Akeju. It will be executive produced by Ian Rumsey and Chris Shaw from ITN Productions and Rachel Corp, editor of 5 News, alongside Lara Akeju for Channel 5.
Editor Ian Jones said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to lead the editorial direction of this much-loved show. The Wright Stuff is a Channel 5 institution and I’m looking forward to building on its current success and taking it forward to the next stage of its development. Our close relationship with 5 News will allow us to respond to the most topical and talked-about issues of the day.”
Lara Akeju said: “The newly appointed team will bring a wealth of experience to our much loved current affairs programme. The editorial team combined with our talented host Matthew Wright, will bring informative, engaging and accessible content to our Channel 5 audience, building on the consistent quality of Princess Productions’ output.”
Ian Rumsey said: “We’re delighted to have in place a confident and skilled team ready to take on the challenge of bringing The Wright Stuff into 2018 in style. Ian and Emma’s backgrounds are a great blend of current affairs and magazine programming while Dan is perfectly placed to direct a programme with a live studio audience.”
Channel 5 appointed ITN Productions to reinvigorate the daily programme, which will continue to be hosted by Matthew Wright, every Monday to Friday from 9.15am to 11.15am. The show will broadcast live from a brand new studio in ITN’s central London HQ.
