ITN Productions to produce landmark royal documentary

Her Majesty The Queen and Sir David Attenborough are to appear together in a major documentary to be screened in 2018, announced today by ITV.

The documentary from ITN Productions follows the progress of the Queen’s ambitious initiative to create a global network of protected forests, The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy, a conservation project aimed at raising awareness of the value of indigenous forests, and of preserving them for future generations.

The initiative aims to create a network of national forest parks that span the 52 countries of the Commonwealth, creating a canopy across countries that represents a lasting legacy and celebration of the Queen’s leadership of, and service to, the Commonwealth.

At the centre of this landmark documentary will be a unique and informal conversation between Her Majesty The Queen and Sir David Attenborough, filmed in the grounds of Buckingham Palace, in which they discuss trees, their shared interest in nature and conservation and the ambition of The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy.

The documentary was commissioned by ITV Head of Factual Entertainment Sue Murphy and ITV Controller of Factual Jo Clinton Davis.

The award-winning production team include Director Jane Treays and Executive Producer Chris Shaw, Editorial Director of ITN Productions.
