HISTORY™, the flagship channel of leading factual entertainment broadcaster A+E Networks™ UK, a joint venture between A+E Networks™ and BSkyB, has commissioned ITN Productions to produce a new series of Mud Men (10 x 1 hour).
The third series of this successful UK commission will see the return of Johnny Vaughan, ‘Mud God’ Steve Brooker and Nick Stevens aka Rock, a third mudlarker from series two. The three mudlarkers will embark on new adventures to uncover a never before seen side of London’s rich history, digging deep to reveal the archaeological history of the River Thames.
The partnership with the British Museum will also continue with Dr Michael Lewis, deputy Director of the portable Antiquities Scheme at the British Museum as preferred finds consultant.
Rachel Job, Head of Acquisitions & Commissioning, HISTORY & MILITARY HISTORY® at A+E Networks UK, said: “HISTORY viewers love Johnny and Steve’s infectious enthusiasm for history and we’re delighted that ITN Productions can bring them back for a third year in a row.’’
Emma Read, Head of Factual and Features, ITN Productions, said: “ITN Productions is delighted to be producing a third series of Mud Men for HISTORY. Our indefatigable duo Johnny Vaughan and mudlark Steve Brooker will be continuing their hunt for remnants of the past around the country and their finds will be propelling them on more adventures as they get hands on with history. The success of Mud Men proves how inspiring amateur archaeology can be as a portal into our shared history.”
