Veteran National Geographic producer and programming expert Michael Welsh has joined ITN Productions as Vice President of Production and Development for North American operations based in Washington DC.
His appointment further boosts ITN’s presence in the US and builds upon recent commissions from US broadcasters including Killer Instinct with Chris Hansen, multi award-winning Children of Syria for PBS and Triumph Games for CBS Sports Network.
With more than 20 years industry experience before joining ITNP full-time, Welsh was an Executive Producer of Production and Development at the National Geographic family of global networks (The National Geographic Channel and NatGeo Wild). There he was the creative force behind such hit series as Alaska State Troopers, Drugs Inc., Underworld Inc., and Expedition Wild w/ Casey Anderson, as well as such award-winning documentaries as Russia & The West (Peabody), Iran & The West (Peabody), Witness: Katrina (Emmy), and Inside Nature’s Giants: The Whale (BAFTA). Before joining National Geographic, Welsh was an accomplished writer, producer, and showrunner who worked on such landmark series as ABC News’ Hopkins 24/7, Mythbusters, Forensic Files, and Trauma: Life In The E.R.
