ITN Productions Bafta And Grierson Award-Winner Guy Davies As Head Of Documentaries

ITN Productions has appointed Guy Davies, Executive Producer of two of 2012’s most talked-about factual series, to the newly created post of Head of Documentaries.

Guy joins ITN Productions to develop and executive produce topical factual series that naturally sit alongside ITN’s existing reputation for current affairs and popular factual. He will report to ITN Productions Editorial Director Chris Shaw and work alongside the division’s Head of Factual & Features Emma Read to produce programmes for UK and international broadcasters.

Guy’s recent credits include Executive Producer on Channel 4’s ten part hit documentary series “999: What’s Your Emergency?”, and three films from “The Tube” for BBC2. Guy’s feature length doc for HBO and Channel 4, “The Battle for Marjah”, was nominated for three Emmys in 2012. He’s also executive produced a peak time ITV1 popular factual series for tx early 2013.

Guy was Series Producer on the BAFTA and Grierson-winning The Trust for Channel 4, and his work has won awards at the Edinburgh Film Festival, and Broadcast awards.

Before he became a freelance Executive Producer, Guy was previously Senior Executive Producer at Wall to Wall (2008-2010), Executive Producer at Hart Ryan Productions (1996-2008), and Director of Development at Folio Productions (1992-1995), prior to that he worked at Channel 4.

“Guy is a fantastic addition to our senior team and will bring further diversity to our output,” said Mark Browning, Managing Director of ITN Productions. “Awards, new commissions and returning series show that we’re already being recognised for our work in current affairs, popular factual and fast-turnaround programmes. Guy’s track record shows that he’s the right senior Exec to develop our offering in documentaries within the topical factual space.”

Guy Davies said “It’s a great time to be joining ITN Productions, who are in a really strong position to build on their success, with more documentary and topical factual series. I’m really excited about working with Chris and Emma, and bringing my experience to the team”.
