Leukaemia campaigner dies
A journalist who ran a campaign for increased awareness of leukaemia has died of the disease.
Huddersfield Daily Examiner reporter Adrian Sudbury passed away with his family beside him at their home in Nottinghamshire.
The 27-year-old's campaign called on the Government to introduce education about bone marrow donation into schools and colleges.
Mr Sudbury, from Sheffield, became ill in November 2006 and was subsequently diagnosed with two distinct types of leukaemia.
The young journalist received a bone marrow transplant and although not successful it bought him valuable time with friends and family.
His parents Kay and Keith issued a statement following his death.
His father said: "Every parent thinks their son or daughter is special and we are no different.
"Adrian touched all who knew him. We're very proud of all his achievements in tragically such a short time.
"Kay and I hope that all Adrian's good work will be continued by all those who knew and loved him."
