Stone hosts Aids awareness fundraiser

Sharon Stone has hosted a fundraising event to raise funds and awareness of Aids in Dubai.

The actress, who was in the city for the International Film Festival, was joined by fellow Hollywood stars Michelle Yeoh and Hayden Christensen for the dinner and auction.

The events have generated over $30 million (£15 million) for Aids research since 1993

She said: "I think we are happy to know that we are coming together as artists and working together in the movie community to work in AIDS awareness."

Held on behalf of amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research which regularly hosts charity auctions during film festivals, the event took place as part of the Cinema Against Aids Dubai programme.

The events have generated over $30 million (£15 million) for Aids research since 1993.

The Dubai International Film Festival started on December 9 and will see 141 films from 52 countries being screened.
