Joey Barton completes Magpies move
Newcastle have finally completed the signing of Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton for a fee of £5.8 million.
The 24-year-old asked for permission to speak to Newcastle last week after both the Magpies and West Ham submitted bids of £5.5 million or more.
Newcastle followed up their initial bid with an improved £5.8 million offer, which has been accepted by the Blues.
Barton was suspended by City at the end of the season but he did manage to score six Premiership goals and made his England debut in a friendly against Spain.
He was arrested for his part in the training-ground bust-up with Manchester City team-mate Ousmane Dabo.
After being spoken to by officers, Barton has been bailed until July 11 while police investigate the incident.
