Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has warned the British Grand Prix could be scrapped if Donington is not ready by 2010.

A deal has been struck to stage the event at the Midlands circuit for ten years, starting in 2010.

"I would do what I would otherwise have done this week" - Bernie Ecclestone

Reports suggest £100 million will be spent on revamping the circuit and there are doubts over the timescale of the planned changes.

Ecclestone has warned the future of Formula One in Britain is dependent on Donington's refit.

And he confirmed he was ready to give the race to another country until Donington came up with its ambitious plans.

Ecclestone said: "I would do what I would otherwise have done this week, gone and signed up with somebody else."
