City cash did not tempt Berbatov

Manchester United's new signing Dimitar Berbatov has hinted Manchester City offered him more money.

Berbatov arrived in Manchester on Monday and he was picked up at the airport by Sir Alex Ferguson.

"I do not play for the money" - Dimitar Berbatov

It has been claimed Berbatov took a call while in the car with Ferguson, explaining City had also had a bid accepted but he chose to join United.

Berbatov said: "I don't play for the money. Those who know me; my really close friends, know that I play for enjoyment and to entertain the fans.

"If I want to play for the money, I will accept the Manchester City offer or Chelsea.

"But the red shirt is a really big thing for me. I want to play for the biggest club in the world. That is why I am here."
