Robinho puts pressure on Real

Real Madrid striker Robinho has admitted he wants to join Chelsea before the transfer window closes.

The Brazil international has pleaded with Real president Ramon Calderon and other club officials to let him move to London, but time is running out before the deadline on Monday night.

"Chelsea have made a great effort to sign me" - Robinho

Robinho said: "The situation is still the same. I want to play for Chelsea, as I have told the president, the coach and the sporting director.

"I want to play there. I don't know what more I can do.

"Calderon said that if a good offer came in they would let me go. Chelsea have made a great effort to sign me."

But Robinho has denied suggestions that he could go on strike to force Real's hand.
