Hamilton aims to extend winning streak
Lewis Hamilton kept his feet on the ground after winning the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim.
The British driver and his McLaren team were well ahead of their rivals throughout practice and qualifying and Hamilton overcame the setback of a safety car period to claim his second successive victory and open a four-point lead over Ferrari's Felipe Massa.
Hamilton said: "It's great to see the pace we have, but we have to take it a step at a time because we've a long way to go, and we have to make sure we continue with this performance.
"This weekend we have proven the performance of the team and car is very good, so I'm very happy with my job and that of the team.
"I'm not as excited as I was when I won in Monaco, but I am very happy."
Hamilton was also given a boost in the drivers championship by Renault driver Nelson Piquet Jr, who held off fellow Brazilian Massa to finish second.
It was the first time Piquet had ever reached the podium at a Grand Prix.
