City romp to victory
Rolando Bianchi scored twice as Manchester City rounded off their tour of Sweden with a comfortable 4-0 hammering of Carlstad United.
The £8.8million Italian set up his countryman and strike partner Bernardo Corradi to round the goalkeeper and open the scoring after five minutes.
With 20 minutes on the clock the roles were reversed, allowing Bianchi to drive home for City's second.
Sven-Goran Eriksson's men wasted little time in making it three after the break as Bianchi swept home for his third in two games in his manager's homeland.
Substitute keeper Kasper Schmeichel had to save a penalty after Micah Richards' handball before another replacement, Marc Laird, struck a fourth from the edge of the box.
A late goal from Nolberto Solano saved Newcastle's blushes in a 1-1 draw at Carlisle.
Sam Allardyce was without Michael Owen for the pre-season friendly at Brunton Park after the England striker suffered a minor thigh injury in training this week.
It was the Coca-Cola League One side, who took the lead after a goalless first half, as Danny Livesey headed past the stranded Steve Harper from a 56th-minute corner.
But in the final minute Solano collected the ball from a flick-on and crashed past Kieran Westwood to level.
Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov found the net as Tottenham defeated Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in their opening Vodacom Challenge match in Durban, South Africa.
New signing Younes Kaboul had already left the field injured before Keane's flicked finish over the goalkeeper from close range gave Spurs the lead with five minutes of the first half remaining.
The Chiefs responded soon after the interval when former Charlton striker Shaun Bartlett headed home, but Bulgarian Berbatov made sure of the win just after the hour mark thanks to good work from new strike partner Darren Bent.
Bent, another ex-Addick, sped clear of his marker and unselfishly squared for Berbatov to tap in.
Big-spending Sunderland were stunned 1-0 by Coca-Cola Championship new boys Scunthorpe at Glanford Park.
Scunthorpe took the lead in only the second minute when Nyron Nosworthy's poor attempted pass ricocheted off an opponent and dropped at the feet of Martin Paterson, who fired past Darren Ward.
