Barry and Villa hold Liverpool

Gareth Barry played the full 90 minutes as Aston Villa held Liverpool to a goalless draw at Villa Park.

Barry made it clear during the summer he would like to join Liverpool.

But the clubs have been unable to thrash out a deal and Barry was recently recalled to the Villa team.

Any move now seems impossible with the transfer deadline looming on Monday.

Villa fans sang 'There's only one Gareth Barry' and taunted Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez for trying to sign their captain.

The game was disappointing with few chances for either team.
