Barack Obama worries about Malia on Facebook

Report by Laurie Blake

Barack Obama has made an appeal to younger voters by appearing for a live 30 minute interview on MTV.

The US President answered viewer submitted questions on a range of topics including climate change and same-sex marriage.

MTV presenter Sway Calloway probed Obama on the topic of climate change, stating that it had been mentioned in nearly all recent presidential campaigns.

"Governor Romney says he believes in climate change, that's different than a lot of members of his own party who just deny it completely, but he says he's not sure that man-made causes are the reason." said Obama.

"I believe scientists that say that we're putting too much carbon emissions into the atmosphere and it's heating the planet and it's going to have a severe effect," he added.

Family matters were also on the agenda, Obama was asked about his concerns over his daughters, Sasha and Malia, becoming teenagers.

"I'm very keen on protecting her (Malia's) privacy. She can make her own decisions about it later when she gets older, but for now, for security reasons she doesn't have a Facebook page. Dates... that's fine because she's got secret service protection," joked Obama.
