Chinese dissident's remake of Gangnam Style is banned

Report by Katie Lamborn

Dissident artist Ai Weiwei's remake of the video for Psy's Gangnam Style has been removed from China's internet.

The video was renamed Caonima Style. The term 'caonima' means 'grass, mud, horse' and sounds very much like a Chinese swear word.

It is also used as a symbol of defiance by the country's online community.

Weiwei said: "When a society constantly demands that everyone should abandon their freedom of expression, then the society becomes a society without creativity. It can never become a happy society."

The 55-year-old recently had a $2.4million tax evasion fine held against him by a Chinese court. If he does not pay up there a strong chance he may go to jail.
