A surveillance video has emerged of a homeless man being beaten up by what appears to be a group of New York Police Department (NYPD) officers.
The man, identified as Ehud Halevi, was allegedly resisting arrest for sleeping in a synagogue outreach centre last Monday.
New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind called the alleged beating "unconscionable," adding that the officers in the video should be suspended.
According to local news Halevi is being charged with assaulting a police officer, trespassing, resisting arrest and harassment.
NYPD has not yet issued a comment.
