Topless protest in Paris: Femen demonstrate at the Louvre

Report by Sophie Foster

Activists from feminist group Femen have held a topless demonstration in Paris' Louvre museum to condemn a Tunisian rape case.

The women stood topless in front of the Venus de Milo statue, raising their hands in protest and chanting "We are here to stop rape".

It comes as a woman in Tunisia, who claims she was raped by policemen, is now potentially facing charges of indecency.

"As long as you're a woman, you're a potential victim of a rapist. And the suggestion that a girl in Tunisia who was raped by two policemen might be judged because of her immoral position is crazy", said Inna Shevchenko.

"Today we choose the Louvre and the statue of Venus de Milo, who symbolises a woman without hands. We came to show that we have hands to stop rape and we will fight for that," she added.
