Footage has been released of the terrifying moment two planes crashed into each other in sky over the Netherlands.

Cameraman Eric Don captured the in-air collision between the two single engine planes.

An aircraft carrying members of the Dutch Christian Democrat party hit a Cessna full of Socialist party workers.

The landing gear in the Cessna stuck into the other plane's wing, fusing the two together and sending them plummeting towards the ground.

Fortunately, the planes detached, allowing one to make an emergency landing on the beach and the other to return safely to Rotterdam airport.

No one was injured in the incident, which is now being investigated by Dutch aviation authorities.
