Oak Creek Police have released footage of last month's Sikh temple shooting in Milwaukee, showing the first officer to arrive on the scene being shot in the throat.
The first video was filmed on the dashboard camera inside Murphy's police vehicle.
It shows him hiding behind a parked car while the gunman, white supremacist Wade Michael Page, shoots at him.
Lt. Murphy was eventuall shot 15 times.
Another newly released dashcam video shows the second officer to arrive on the scene, Sam Lenda.
He and Page are shown engaged in a brief firefight, Lenda reportedly armed with an assault rifle.
A round appears to hit Lenda's windscreen.
According to reports, Page was hit in the stomach and the last shot on the video is him taking his own life.
Milwaukee County District Attorney, John Chisolm, believes the videos show the officers acted properly on the day of the shooting.
He said: "The videos, from my perspective, are compelling evidence showing that Lieutenant Murphy and Officer Lenda were both justified and privileged in their use of force when they confronted Mr Page at the Sikh Temple.
"Beyond that, and further, their courageous and timely actions were necessary to prevent further tragedy."
Officer Murphy can only speak in a whisper after being hit in the throat but is recovering at home.
Page's motive for the attack is being investigated by the FBI.
