Amateur video uploaded to the internet is said to show buildings on fire in the Damascus neighbourhood of Hazza in Syria on Saturday.

Opposition sources said the army had earlier stormed the area and executed 27 young men.

Another video, which also cannot be independently verified, purports to show the remnants of a burnt home in the district. Rubble can be seen strewn across the floors throughout the house, with some areas still smouldering.

The violence in Damascus continued on Monday, when opposition campaigners said women and children were injured after a car bomb exploded in a religiously mixed district on the edge of Damascus.
