Thailand has broken the Guinness World Record for the most people being massaged at one time, as part of the opening of Thailand's Medical Expo 2012.

641 pairs of Thai masseuses turned up to tackle the record.

Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra was on hand to hit the gong marking the start of the record attempt.

After 12 intensive minutes of massage, the record attempt was certified by observers from the Guinness Book of World Records.

The previous record had been held by 263 Australian couples in 2010.
