A four-year-old girl who was home alone has been rescued after getting her head stuck in second floor balcony railings.

Passers-by heard her cries and called police. One man propped up a ladder and managed to hold the girl's feet up with his right hand.

He was still supporting her when police special task force members arrived. Officers managed to get into the locked house and save the little girl in a matter of minutes.

She was taken to hospital but doctors say she is fine other than a slight abrasion on her check.
