A German tourist has been attacked by dingos in northern Australia after falling asleep on a walking track.

The 23-year-old became disorientated near a campsite on Fraser Island.

After the incident, the tourist was airlifted to hospital with serious wounds to his head, arms and legs.

There have been several non-fatal dingo attacks on the island. Last year a three-year-old girl and a South Korean woman were bitten in separate incidents.
