New Orleans hotel demolished in 10 seconds

Report by Sophie Foster

The landmark Grand Palace Hotel in New Orleans was demolished on Sunday, in just ten seconds.

The 17-story building, that had been standing for six decades, fell into a heap of dust when it was imploded with 400 tonnes of explosives.

Known as the Claiborne Towers when it opened in the 1950s, it was considered the biggest hotel in the American South.

The hotel was demolished to make way for a hospital.
