Improvised explosives, found at the home of a student accused of killing 12 people at a cinema in Denver, have been detonated at a remote location.
The devices were take to an isolated area near Aurora, where they were carefully removed from a truck and placed in holes surrounded by low walls.
The boxes full of explosives were then remotely detonated.
The devices had been taken from suspect James Holmes' apartment after two trip wires in the property were disabled.
Holmes' is accused of killing 12 people and wounding 58 after opening fire at a packed midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises, early on Friday morning.
