In his weekly address President Barack Obama has paid tribute to the town of Aurora, Denver where 12 people were shot dead at a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises.

He said: "The country may never understand what leads anyone to terrorise their fellow human beings.

"Such violence is senseless and without reason".

At the end of his address the President said: "People of Aurora, may the Lord bring you comfort and healing in the hard days ahead."
