Japan launches rocket to International Space Station

Report by Katie Lamborn

Japan has launched an unmanned rocket carrying supplies for astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS).

The Japan-made H-IIB rocket lifted off from the Japanese space agency's Tanegashima Space centre.

It can carry up to six tons of food and other materials for the astronauts living aboard the ISS.

After delivering supplies the rocket will be reloaded with waste material and then sent to burn in the atmosphere.
