Police in Denver have entered the "extensively booby-trapped" apartment of the man suspected of killing 12 people at a cinema in Aurora.

Officers have had to use robots to detonate the devices.

James Holmes was arrested shortly after allegedly opening fire on people watching a screening of The Dark Knight Rises.

Police and fire officials inserted cameras into the apartment which revealed that the living room was criss-crossed with trip wires connected to a number of plastic bottles containing an undetermined fluid.
