Three Americans are believed to have been killed after their small aircraft came down at an airport in France.

Two men, aged 24 and 51, and a woman aged 30 were killed when the private jet came down at the Castellet aerodrome in the south of the country, close to Saint Tropez.

Authorities in the French Rivera have confirmed the accident, although they have not released any further details.

The circumstances of the crash are not yet clear.
