A proud car owner in Long Island is getting ready to celebrate his vehicle clocking up three million miles.
When Irvin Gordon bought his red Volvo P1800S in 1966, it cost him most of his annual salary.
Years later, it is still in good working order, so his $4150 dollar investment has paid dividends.
Gordon says it was love at first sight and once he got behind the wheel, he couldn't stop driving it.
"I put 1500 miles on it the first weekend I owned the car. I picked up the car on a Friday night, I came back Monday morning to the dealership for its first major check-up which was supposed to be 1500 miles in those days."
Gordon regularly drives his car around Long Island and has become something of a celebrity in the area.
The car has held the official Guinness World Record for the highest known vehicle mileage since 2002.
