World class divers take the plunge in Norway

Report by Helen Percival

Britain's Gary Hunt has won the second round in the 2012 Cliff Diving World Series in Grimstad, Norway.

Hunt, who has won the last two world series, won the competition with an almost perfect quadruple forward somersault with a half turn, finishing ahead of the American duo Steven LoBue and Kent De Mond.

Hunt finished with 477.5 points, 45.25 ahead of LoBue, with De Mond a further 34.25 behind.

This made up for his disappointing fourth place finish in the first stop of the 2012 series in Corsica two weeks ago.

Speaking after the compeition Hunt said: "It's not easy to start of the Championship with a deficit and so I knew I was heading for the platform after three dives but anything can happen.

"I was just happy to get my required dives done without too many errors."

The next stop in the series will be in the Azores, Portugal on July 21.
