Trapped humpback whale freed in Australia

Report by Helen Percival

A humpback whale that was caught in shark netting off the Australian Gold Coast has been cut free by rescuers.

The eight-metre humpback whale received minor cuts as rescuers worked to remove the netting that had been caught around her head and left pectoral fin.

Eventually rescuers managed to cut her free, and she continued her migration north of Australia, with two other whales that had been waiting for her.
