Workers trapped in office fire in Ecuador

Workers in Ecuador were forced to break the windows of their office building when a deadly fire broke out, killing two people.

The blaze took place while many workers were out to lunch, in the coastal area of Guayaquil.

The region's Fire Chief explained: "One person jumped from the fourth floor, apparently from the scare, before we arrived.

"And the other person died from asphyxiation on the fourth floor which is where the police are working to recover the cadaver."

Firefighters sprayed water into the broken windows and managed to rescue a total of 12 people from the building.

The cause of the blaze is unknown.
