You would hope to see some ugly dogs at an ugly dog competition, and the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California, will not disappoint.
Dozens of inwardly beautiful hounds were paraded before the judges for the title of Worst in Show, and the coveted World's Ugliest Dog award.
With names like Creature and Icky, the audience knew what they were getting into, and the eventual winner was Britain's least attractive Chinese Crested dog, the appropriately named Mugly.
"I am excited. I'm overwhelmed. I'm so proud to be able to be taking this back to the UK," said Mugly's owner Bev Nicholson.
"He is the most amazing dog. He's kind and he's patient and he's a really sweet, sensitive dog," she added.
Affectionately dubbed the "Britain's ugliest dog", the eight-year-old Mugly celebrated his win with $1,000 in prize money, a photo shoot, a VIP hotel stay, and a year's supply of treats.
