Most artists dream of having their own solo exhibition at a New York gallery, and for Aelita Andre that dream has become a reality.

What sets Aelita apart from her fellow painters is that she is just five years old.

The little girl from Australia is a big hit in the art world and is something of an exhibition veteran; this is her second solo show.

She created her first painting as a baby, by crawling onto a canvas and had built up a significant body of work by the age of two.

Critics, who have been impressed by her bold style and use of colour, believe the paintings offer adults an insight into a child's imagination.

Aelita Andre: Secret Universe will run until July 3 at New York's Agora Gallery.
