Flooding ravages northern Colombia

Report by Sophie Foster

More than 100 homes have been severely affected by flooding after rainfall caused the Bucaramanga River to overflow its banks, sending torrents of water through the San Martin neighbourhood.

Residents were forced to look on helplessly as waters raged through the streets, sweeping away cars and flooding out buildings.

Many locals tried in vain to salvage what they could from their homes, most of which were left with mud and debris from the floodwaters.

According to reports, at least two people were injured.
