Siberian tiger cubs nursed by a dog

Report by Genelle Aldred

Siberian tiger cubs, abandoned by their mother at birth, have been nursed by a dog at a zoo in Rongcheng, China.

Cats and dogs are not usually the best of friends, but the mother dog recently had two puppies of her own and let the cubs drink her milk.

Zoo keeper Zhou Xiaoguang said: "She's treating the tiger cubs just like they were her own, licking them and comforting them."

The four white Siberian tigers often fight for milk, but in 20 days time they can start eating solids and stop nursing.

Their real mother remains in a nearby enclosure.
