At least 12 people have died after a church was bombed in northern Nigeria.

The attack occurred in the outskirts of the city of Bauchi on Sunday morning, according to witnesses.

It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the blast, although churches have become a favoured target of violent Islamist sect Boko Haram within the last year.
