An 11-year-old boy has been caught up in an attack involving silly string.
The youngster was sprayed with silly string and then punched in the face in Morecambe on Saturday afternoon.
Police say the boy, who was accompanied with a male friend, was walking through the town centre carrying an owl when the incident took place.
The two were approached by a large group of boys in their mid-teens on Euston Road, who began to spray them with silly string. The victims ran away, however the teenagers followed after, punching one of the boys in the face.
Police suggest that the gang might have been trying to steal the owl.
PC Ben Hanley said: "The use of the string has clearly caused the owl some distress but fortunately they managed to keep it safe and the boy was not seriously hurt."
