A second man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of two unarmed policewomen in Greater Manchester.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) Chief Constable Sir Peter Fahy said a 28-year-old man had been detained in Hattersley on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
Dale Cregan, 29, is also being questioned over the officers' deaths and the killings of father and son David and Mark Short.
Police constables, Fiona Bone, 32, and Nicola Hughes, 23, had been sent to investigate what appeared to be a routine burglary report when they were attacked with a gun and a grenade.
Fellow officers and civilian staff at GMP held a minute's silence at 11am on Wednesday in memory of the pair.
Home Secretary Theresa May is due to meet Sir Fahy on Wednesday, after she cut short her holiday in the wake of the murders.
