Hard-hitting advert shows importance of first aid

St John Ambulance have launched a television campaign highlighting the fact that as many people die from a lack of first aid as they do from cancer.

The moving advert shows a man suffering and recovering from cancer, only to then choke on a burger and end up unconscious, as his little girl looks on.

St John Ambulance says they needed a hard-hitting advert to encourage more people to learn first aid, as at the moment only one in five people do.

They say they have tried a softer approach in the past but that they felt they needed to be more aggressive, in order to raise awareness and try to save more lives.
