CCTV shows failed Ducati motorbike robbery

Report by Adam Sich

A motorcycle showroom in Croydon, London, has released CCTV footage of an attempted robbery.

A gang of six would-be robbers entered the In-Moto store and tried to make off with two Ducati motorcycles worth £25,000 each.

The raid was aborted after the gang were confronted by shopworker Paul Read, 35, who sprinted across the road, startling the group.

Mr Read placed one of the robbers in a headlock before pushing another to the ground. More staff and members of the public joined the have-a-go-hero, who was being threatened with metal bars and hammers.

Chaotic scenes ensued outside the shop as the gang flung their weapons at the staff members.

Eventually the raiders fled the scene but did so empty-handed.
