Burgled grandmother talks about torture

Report by Rob Gillett

Francoise Jansen, 73, describes the horrific pain she was put through when burglars raided her house in Surrey.

The grandmother was tortured inside her own home by masked men who forced her to open a safe.

She said: "They asked me if I had any grandchildren, I told them I had 10 and they said, 'We are going to kill you, do you think your grandchildren will miss you?'.

"I was consumed by fear. It was sheer hell and all I can remember is praying."

When Mrs Jansen was unable to open a second safe, the men wrapped a water-drenched towel around her face to simulate drowning.

She went on to describe the attack as "evil, and so cruel".
